What Causes Knee Pain?
Knee pain is a very frustrating ailment. It's not always easy to diagnose the cause, and once it's known, many patients mistakenly believe no one can help them (with arthritis) or that surgery is their only option (with a torn ligament or meniscus). In fact, chiropractic care can help you heal your knee and keep it pain-free, without surgery.
Your knee is surrounded by ligaments, tendons and muscles, and an injury to any of them causes knee pain. You can also feel pain in the knee from a problem in your foot or hip.
Many patients get dramatic relief when we balance the muscles of the hip, support the foot with orthotics and perform soft-tissue work around the knee. We are specialists in the Graston technique, which uses specially designed tools to break down scar tissue that restricts movement and interferes with proper joint alignment.

Questions we hear most about knee pain.
You may be surprised to learn that arthritis does not always cause pain — some patients with arthritis have none at all. If you have arthritis and knee pain, don't assume the two are related; you may have a soft-tissue problem that needs treating. Our approach is to evaluate and care for all the tissues around the joint, suggest supplements that may reduce arthritis symptoms, prescribe orthotics to improve how your feet and legs work, and build an exercise program that preserves your mobility and may decrease your arthritis pain.
Proper activity is very important while a torn meniscus recovers. We advise you on exercise and make sure your knee is functioning properly so the meniscus can heal.
Yes! Chondromalacia patella is strongly related to imbalances in the way the kneecap rides in its groove. By balancing your muscles, supporting your foot and keeping your soft tissues healthy, we can encourage your kneecap to ride correctly.
A bursa becomes inflamed when the muscles and fascia over it are too tight. We use soft-tissue techniques to reduce the stress those tissues put on the bursa.
