What Exactly is Chiropractic?
Unfortunately, that is not an easy question to answer.

How Adjustments Work
Subluxations and the nervous system
Some practitioners believe chiropractic should involve only the correction of “vertebral subluxations” in the spine — areas of the spine that don't function or move properly, which can be identified by a careful and detailed examination. An adjustment is then given to these areas to reduce or eliminate the subluxations.
What actually happens is very complex, but it does involve activating certain “receptors” surrounding the joint. These receptors switch on and send a signal to the spinal cord, which can have effects at the same level where it meets the spinal cord and also travels on to other areas of the nervous system — all the way up to the brain itself.
Our Philosophy
Chiropractic is an attitude toward healthcare
Here at LifeCare Chiropractic, we believe chiropractic is taking a step back to look at the whole picture, then giving the body what it needs to heal itself — whether that's exercise, vitamins, herbs, attention to diet or a chiropractic adjustment. The human body is an amazing, incredible, wonderful and beautiful thing, and it can recover from just about anything if it is given what it needs.
Prescription drugs and surgery are definitely NOT a part of chiropractic, although we recognize the need for them when necessary and can refer you to another physician who provides those services.
